Lange House

Mies Van Der Rohe designed two villas in Krefeld, Germany in 1930 for two neighboring families. The Lange house, while brick and heavy in its initial appearance, is incredibly light filled to the south, and opens itself to the natural landscape through its large windows and patios that encourage one to venture outdoors.

A proposed addition to the home was placed at the edge of the property as an indoor/outdoor living and dining area. The extended roof provides shade from the summer sun and the separate kitchen and living space seek to use similar language to the open floor plan of the main house.
