Taking inspiration from Enzo Mari’s Autoprogettazione chair, we reinterpreted the chair in cardboard. The original chair made of 2×4 with the idea that it could be made by anyone anywhere, we aimed to simplify the design even more.
Using a series of laminated cardboard pieces in three lengths (the original chair had four different lengths) and created chair that both resembles and takes inspiration from the original. The structure of the cardboard required more vertical supports than the wood which we integrated into the design using the modular of the laminated cardboard. The back of the chair was lengthened to add comfort and painted every other layer white to emulate the wood grain of the original chair.
